Situated in the heart of the Surrey Hills Bentley Copse is ideally suited for your Bronze and Silver expeditionary groups. We have direct access to the local and national footpath network, and generally have parking available for leader’s campers and support vans (please specify when making a booking).

With field and woodland camping options, and four support buildings to hire we have options to suit all DofE groups.

We can accommodate groups on most dates, though small number of May and June weekends may reach capacity.

Camping rates are £12.50 per person per night.

Unless these resources are booked by non DofE groups for their exclusive use, the following resources are available for use by DofE groups:

– Field Marquee : Our large field marquee provides a shelter from the worst of the weather. It cannot be used for overnight accommodation or cooking.

– The Retreat : A respite for staff, or a small training location. Equipped with a small kitchenette and power for phone charging

Our Expedition Policies PDF provides comprehensive information on what we can offer those using Bentley Copse for their expeditions as well as the responsibilities of those leading the expedition.

The Retreat can provide you with a room suitable for:
– Staff hot drinks ( Comes with kettle, fridge, cold water sink )
– Planning / Admin ( Seats 12 with ease )
– A veranda to sit and watch the field

The Marquee can provide you with:
– Wet weather shelter for all your group (24m x 9m)

We have the following camping possibilities:

Field camping
Often divided into top, centre and lower – our large camping field is popular for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. It is close to the main car park and both the marquee and the retreat which are available for your use.

Numbered woodland sites
Thirteen numbered sites, which can be combined to create larger spaces, provide flexibility for groups of all sizes.

Support buildings
If you require the use of indoor space for training, or bunk-room accommodation we have buildings that will be suitable for your group.

Occasional sites
We have four occasional (overflow?) sites we can potentially use for late bookings.
